“I support the BACH Coalition’s tobacco campaign because my mother died of smoking-related cancer and I appreciate what the campaign is doing to prevent others from experiencing that kind of loss.”

“I’m representing the Face Off Against Tobacco, and I want to say thanks for supporting it- really appreciate it. I got a little sister and I don’t want her to be smoking tobacco because it’s really bad for you.” ~quote from youth taking the picture
I support the “Face Off Against Tobacco” Campaign on Flickr.
“I care about this- fighting against tobacco- because I have my brothers and my mother that I care about. I don’t want that one day, my sister or brother will start to smoke. I am trying to defend my brother with this very good campaign that I am working on. I would like that my government increases the tobacco prices. Also, I would like to give people some advice about how dangerous tobacco is, and our campaign would help them. The opportunity that we offer is to increase the tobacco price- which would stop many young people from smoking as much.” ~Message from the youth taking this photograph

“I have a little sister and I don’t want her to get exposed to tobacco or any other tobacco products; I don’t want to see her involved or addicted to tobacco. I support an increase in the tax of tobacco products because it would change people’s ideas of buying it.” ~ Youth photographer’s words
I vote YES to increase OTP prices. on Flickr.
This campaign is about keeping other tobacco products out of sight and behind store counters and also about increasing the prices of tobacco products. I care about this project because I don’t want my family and my cousin or brothers to start using it. I don’t like when I see young people buying blunts or other tobacco products. I would like to give good advice, like don’t buy tobacco- you can buy food with that money.

Hello everyone,
My name is Astrid, and I am a community organizer at the Hyde Square Task Force. I took this picture because we have a tobacco campaign taking place and I wanted to tell you about it. Our expectations and desire is to have other tobacco products behind store counters and out of sight, meaning that when an individual/customer steps up to the counter, they wouldn’t be able to see it and would have to ask for it to purchase it. This way, we feel like it would intimidate youth in having to ask for something rather than just pointing at it. Also, kids won’t grow up around these colorful packaged deadly habits. I am worried of where our next generation will be and it’s our job (the youth of this generation) to guide them through the right path.
